4WD, industry-leading provider of aftermarket parts and accessories for Jeeps, has signed on as a sponsor for the Willys Jeep Rally
in Hueston Woods State Park, Ohio May 29-30. The rally will feature a
show, swap meet and live demonstrations as it honors the celebrated
Willys Jeep. The 7th annual event will also have scenic cruising on
rural roads, a banquet and working demonstrations of vehicles on a farm
next to the state park.
Spring is prime time for Jeep enthusiasts to gather at events to
celebrate the versatile vehicle’s origins and legacy. Earlier this
month, 4WD was a sponsor at the Spring Midwest Willys Jeep Reunion in
Hudson, Ohio and will also be a sponsor at the upcoming Bantam Jeep
Heritage Festival in Butler, Pennsylvania June 12-14.
“I'm appearing at the Willys Jeep Rally being held in Hueston Woods
State Park and I'll be guest speaker at their banquet as well,” says Pat
Foster, columnist at Hemmings Classic Car. In addition to his
presentation, Foster will also be selling autographed copies of his
latest book Jeep: America's Greatest Vehicle. “That should be a really
fun time.”
Originally manufactured from 1941-1945, Willys Jeeps aided the World
War II effort by being deft yet durable all-utility vehicles. Whether
pressed into service to save lives on the battlefield or used to
transport gear, supplies and soldiers, Jeeps were crucial to the Allies.
The Willys evolved into the “CJ” civilian Jeep and after it helped win
the war it enjoyed immense popularity with civilians.
The Midwest Willys Jeep Reunion, Inc. presents the annual Willys
Rally in Hueston Woods with a scenic backdrop that includes a pioneer
farm park and a restored covered bridge. Miles of state park roads give
attendees a chance to wheel in their vintage Willys or more contemporary
Jeeps and the show field overlooks an 800-acre lake.
The Willys Jeep Rally starts Friday morning at 9 a.m. at the Hueston
Woods Lodge and family activities include horseback riding, camping and
renting boats at the marina.

Catch the Excitement at the 2nd Largest Mardi Gras in Louisiana: Mardi Gras of Southwest Louisiana. Get your purple, green and gold – it’s time to be a little bit gaudy.
In Southwest Louisiana/Lake Charles we are gearing up for the 2015
Mardi Gras season. King cake, parades and glitzy flowing costumes of
Mardi Gras splendor all add to the mystique of the 2nd largest Mardi
Gras in Louisiana in Lake Charles. Mardi Gras kicked off with the
Twelfth Night celebration on January 6 and the festivities of Carnival
continue through Fat Tuesday, Feb. 17.
During the Mardi Gras season, an estimated 140,000 people come
together to enjoy music, food, parades and plenty of glitzy Mardi Gras
regalia. It’s a family-friendly affair, with carnival rides and an
alcohol and tobacco free zone along the parade route. There’s even a
free Southwest Louisiana Mardi Gras app you can download for the latest
schedule of events, parade routes, notifications and more.
Pageantry, parades, Children’s Day, a Zydeco dance, a Gumbo Cook-off,
a Mardi Gras trail ride and other events pack the weekend, Feb. 13-17.
The Royal Gala occurs the Monday night before Mardi Gras, February 16.
Fat Tuesday, Feb. 17, experience a traditional rural Mardi Gras by
chasing chickens at Iowa’s annual chicken run. And for the grand finale,
the Krewe of Krewes Parade winds through four miles of Lake Charles
tossing thousands of beads to cheering crowds.
“Mardi Gras of Southwest Louisiana reaches out to the young and young
at heart to expose the masses to our unique Southwest Louisiana
culture. With the sounds of our toe-tapping music, incredible joie de
vivre (joy of life) and tasty food all on display, Mardi Gras provides a
little something for everyone, no matter their age or background,” said
Katie Harrington, executive director/second vice president of Mardi
Gras of Southwest Louisiana, Inc.
Since 1979, Mardi Gras of Southwest Louisiana, Inc. has presented its
flagship festival in the area with an approximate $25 million impact on
the economy each year. Mardi Gras of Southwest Louisiana and its
accompanying events has been named a Top 100 Event in North America by
the American Bus Association and has been designated as a Top 20 Event
for the Southeast Tourism Society for many years.
If your schedule doesn’t allow you to make the festivities, visit the
Mardi Gras Museum of Imperial Calcasieu, located at 809 Kirby St. in
Lake Charles, open year round displaying the largest Mardi Gras costume
