With 55 floats in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade there were plenty of entries to choose from for the float competition.
St. Patrick’s Day Association President Linda Weaver said the association was pleased with this year’s parade, especially the quality of the floats.
“There were a lot of great floats to choose from for the competition this year,” she said.
Several attendees to the parade said it was one of the best in recent memory.
“There is a lot more for the kids this year,” said John Busch, who has been watching the parade since 1975. “It’s cold, but the kids don’t want to go inside because there is so much for them to do.”
Weaver said the association hopes to continue improving the parade and surrounding festivities for the 60th anniversary next year.
"Hopefully we can continue to build upon the changes we made this year to make things even better for the 60th anniversary," she said.
The winners of the five categories are as follows:
Most Beautiful In Town - Immanuel Lutheran (Red with airplane and books)
Most Beautiful Out of Town – SVRC Industries (Blarney Castle)
Best Irish Theme - Team One Credit Union
Best Youth Oriented Float - Just For Kids (Toy Story)
