Volunteers Make Christmas Parade a Success!

 

On the day of the Hollywood Christmas Parade, over 800 Hollywood residents helped. As they arrived, volunteers checked in near Author Services, Inc. (also serving as the parade green room), and were directed to their assigned parade duty. From those stationed all along the route answering people’s questions, to those assisting as ushers in the grandstands, distributing program books, checking in media at the red carpet and checking in and feeding the volunteers and the nearly three hundred people carrying the 14 balloons, as well as the dozen Hollywood restaurants and clubs providing food and beverages to the volunteers and green room, Hollywood came out to celebrate Hollywood.

Jeffrey Papes, member of the Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council and community activist, was instrumental in coordinating food donations and volunteers for the parade and stated, “This parade is about community. All I did was to let people know that it was their community too and you saw how quickly people jumped on board.” Papes concluded, “If everyone in the community gave back to the community, even if just a little, this parade will continue to grow.”

The 2013 Hollywood Christmas Parade Benefiting Marine Toys for Tots Presenting Sponsors include The City of Los Angeles, the Hallmark Channel, Disabled American Veterans and Associated Television International, which is executive producing the live parade and the telecast of it.
